SnackPaw is a pet food safety app made by Think Define Create LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles and why. Questions: info@thinkdefinecreate.com.
Your pet profiles (names, species, breeds, allergies), scan history, favorites, and settings are stored only on your device. We do not have accounts, and we cannot see this information. Deleting the app deletes it.
When you scan a food or a label, your photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to an AI service (Google Gemini, with Anthropic Claude as a fallback) to identify the item and read the ingredient list. Photos are processed only to generate your result: we do not store them, and under the API terms we use, these providers do not use them to train their models. The text extracted from your photo is returned to your device and stored only there, as part of your scan history.
The app generates a random identifier on first launch. It is not tied to your name, email, or Apple ID. We use it for exactly two things: enforcing the free daily scan quota, and connecting your subscription status (see Purchases). The app also uses Apple's App Attest to prove requests come from a genuine copy of SnackPaw — this shares a cryptographic token with Apple and us, not personal information. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not fingerprint your device.
Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat, a subscription management service, to check whether your purchase is active; RevenueCat receives your random app identifier and purchase receipt information from Apple, never your payment details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Recall information is sourced from public FDA data. Checking recalls does not send us anything about you.
We use no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency. Our server keeps short-lived operational logs (for example, to count daily free scans, which reset every day) and standard security logs.
SnackPaw is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because your data lives on your device and we keep no account about you, deleting the app removes your information. If you have questions or a request under privacy laws that apply to you (such as GDPR or CCPA), contact us at info@thinkdefinecreate.com and we will help.
SnackPaw provides general food-safety information and is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice. If you think your pet ate something dangerous, contact your veterinarian or an animal poison hotline immediately.
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app.
